Your insurance company may offer a list of preferred shops where you can take your vehicle for repairs, but you are not required to follow their suggestions. It is important to know that you are also entitled to OEM parts with your repair. OEM stands for “Original Equipment Manufacturer” parts, and they are of higher quality than after market parts.
Some insurance companies may try to “steer” you toward auto body shops that save money by selling you repairs done with low quality, after market parts. At Chisago Collision, we will work on your behalf to get your vehicle repaired to full, 100% pre-accident condition without cutting any corners. We work for you, not your insurance company.
The Process:
Online or In-Person Estimate: We will examine the damage to your vehicle to compile an initial estimate. This will give you an idea of the extent of the damage and the potential cost of repairs, though in most cases it is your insurance company who pays beyond the deductible.
Insurance Approval: We will submit the estimate to your insurance company. There may be some back and forth here, but you won’t need to be involved in this step.
Dropoff: Once we have an approved estimate, you’ll bring your vehicle in for repairs.
Disassembly: Our technicians will take apart your vehicle and create a blueprint of the repairs.
Order Parts: Once there’s a blueprint, replacement parts will be ordered. This involves coordination with the insurance company in order to get the best parts for your repair.
Repairs: This covers all structural and mechanical repairs.
Painting: A new, perfectly matched coat of paint helps restore vehicles back to factory finish.
Reassembly: After all the pieces are freshly painted, the vehicle is fully reassembled.
Detailing: This step includes vacuuming, cleaning and final touches.
Final Inspection and Delivery: We inspect the vehicle for quality control. Upon approval, your vehicle is ready to be picked up, with a lifetime guarantee on the repair.
